Abstract

|
(+)-Catechin, one of the condensed tannin purified from Betula platyphylla var.latifolia was investigated on antitumor activity in vitro.
In the dye exclusion method, (+)-catechin showed the dose-dependent cytotoxicity against Human chronic myelogenous leukemia(K-562), Mouse lymphocytic leukemia(L1210), Mouse lymphoma(L5178Y), Mouse lymphoid neoplasm(P388) cell lines. ED_50 of each cell line was 1.61, 2.38, 1.11, 7.54㎍/ml respectively. The most sensitive cell line was L5178Y. The results suggested that (+)-catechin have the cytotoxicity against K-562, L1210, L5178Y, P388 cell lines.
